Dr. Xie's current research focuses on Chinese composers' choral and vocal music, exploring the unique elements that define this rich musical tradition. A significant aspect of his work involves the study of Chinese diction and its application in choral settings, aiming to enhance the authenticity and expressiveness of performances. Through this research, Dr. Xie strives to bridge cultural gaps and bring greater appreciation for Chinese choral and vocal music to a global audience.
Another of Dr. Xie's research topics is entrepreneurship in music. His D.M.A. final project is titled MUSIC INTRAPRENEURSHIP: PATHWAYS FOR CHORAL CONDUCTORS TO ACHIEVE CAREER SUCCESS. This study provides an outside-of-music perspective on how conductors sustain and grow their careers in higher education.
